Biography
The story started on Vancouver's vibrant Main Street, in a boutique and design studio called Simple Boutique. Founder Kelly Deck designed a new look for the shop each season, sourcing products from local and international designers. Simple quickly developed a reputation as a purveyor of exquisite, modern objets d'art. The boutique was celebrated in the press, and by trendsetters, top designers, and devoted locals.
Simple Boutique showcased Kelly's talent for uniting beauty and simplicity. After three successful years she closed the boutique to focus on her growing interior-design business. Simple Design Group was born.
At the beginning of 2007, the firm relaunched as Kelly Deck Design.
Kelly Deck
As a child Kelly pored over architectural plans with her father, developing a passion for interiors and coming, eventually, to see them as a living expression-every texture, form, and line cohering in an ever-changing whole. Kelly studied painting, ceramic design, and sculpture at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and, later, at the University of Wales.
Kelly directed a commercial art gallery and freelanced as an interior designer until she opened Simple Boutique in 2002. Since then she and her team have designed and managed residential interior-design projects, working with a distinguished roster of clients, architects, and construction professionals.
Today, in addition to directing her design firm, Kelly hosts HGTV's "Take it Outside," a new design series showing viewers that, with some design savvy, a yard or patio can become an outdoor oasis. Kelly infuses both her company and television series with her talent for creating simple, beautiful living spaces.
